Professor Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem has joined as the new Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET). He joined as the 7th Vice Chancellor of CUET on Tuesday afternoon.

Previously he was a professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering of CUET and the Head of the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering.

Teachers of all departments of CUET welcomed the new VC with flowers at the joining ceremony. 

Newly appointed Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem said, "We all want to take our beloved CUET far ahead. We need everyone's cooperation to build CUET as a world-class education and research institution." Let us move forward as a beautiful CUET family and let everyone play their role in the progress of CUET from their respective positions.

Among others, departing Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, deans, directors, department heads, office heads, branch heads were present on the occasion.

Earlier, this information was given in a notification signed by Kazi Nurul Islam, Joint Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education on Monday.

The notification said that with the approval of His Excellency the President and the Chancellor, Dr. Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the said university in accordance with Section 10 (1) of the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology Act, 2003.
