All education institutes across the country will remain closed for a total 23 days, including various public holidays and weekends. 

Consequently, regular classroom activities will continue for only 38 days across the months of August and September.

This information emerged following an analysis of the Ministry of Education's annual holiday calendar. According to the academic schedule, educational institutions will be closed for 12 days in August and 11 days in September.

Out of these total closures, 17 are weekly weekend holidays occurring on Fridays and Saturdays across the two months. In addition, there are six government holidays designated for various religious and national observances.

Ahead of August, institutions will observe a one-day general holiday on Wednesday, July 29, on the occasion of Ashari Purnima. Although classes will resume on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will follow as regular weekly holidays.

Meanwhile, the month of August will open with a weekend holiday on August 1 (Saturday). There will be nine weekly holidays in August. Additionally, institutions will observe three public holidays: July Mass Uprising Day on August 5, Akheri Chahar Somba on August 12, and Holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) on August 26.

In total, institutions will remain closed for 12 days this month, allowing 19 days of regular classes.

On the other hand, in September, educational institutions will observe three holidays for various occasions alongside regular weekends. Institutions will remain closed for a total of 11 days during the month. As a result, classroom activities will also continue for 19 days in September.

According to Ministry sources, official authorities may declare additional holidays outside the annual calendar if required due to adverse weather or unforeseen circumstances. Furthermore, official records note that total annual public holidays in the 2026 academic calendar were reduced to 64 days from 76 days in the previous year to maximize classroom instruction time.
