Geo-bag dumping begins in Kurigram to curb Teesta erosion

Geo-bag dumping operations have been inaugurated to prevent erosion by the Teesta River in various areas, including Char Bidyananda and Char Taiob Kha, under Bidyananda Union of Rajarhat Upazila in Kurigram.

Alhaj Sohel Hosnain Kaikobad, Kurigram District Council Administrator and District BNP Member Secretary visited the erosion affected areas on Thursday afternoon, 23 July. He expressed deep shock upon witnessing the severe riverbank destruction by the Teesta. 

Later, he officially inaugurated the dumping of geo-bags at various points in Bidyananda Union to protect human settlements.

Rajarhat Upazila BNP Acting Convener and Advisor to Aalokito Rajarhat Advocate Shafiqul Islam, Member Secretary Sahidul Islam, along with officials from the Kurigram Water Development Board, local public representatives, political leaders, and local dignitaries were present at the event.
