Miss World Bangladesh, in partnership with Gulshan Society, launched
“Hygiene for Health Bangladesh,” a nationwide advocacy campaign led by
Samanzar Sayeed, Miss World Bangladesh 2026. The launch ceremony, held
at Lake Park, Gulshan-2 on July 22, marked a landmark moment for the
platform: the first time a government ministry has formally stood behind
Miss World Bangladesh.
The event was graced by Chief Guest, the Honourable Health Minister,
Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain, MP, alongside Shafiqul Islam Milton,
Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation, and Barrister Omar Sadat,
President of Gulshan Society.
Speaking at the launch, Azra
Mahmood, National Director of Miss World Bangladesh and Founder of Azra
Mahmood Talent Camp (AMTC), said the initiative reflects the platform's
core philosophy of Beauty With a Purpose. “Pageantry, done right, builds
ambassadors,” she said, noting that titleholders are expected to leave
with more than a title " they are expected to leave with a cause and
act on it. Mahmood also called for greater government involvement in
national pageantry, pointing to the Health Ministry's presence as the
beginning of the support the platform needs to represent Bangladesh at
the highest level internationally.
“This campaign is a reminder
that public health starts with simple, everyday habits,” said the
Honourable Health Minister, Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain, MP. “Hygiene is
one of the most cost-effective tools we have to prevent disease, and I
commend Miss World Bangladesh for using this platform to carry that
message to communities across the country.”
“Gulshan Society is proud to stand behind an initiative that puts
community welfare at its centre,” said Barrister Omar Sadat, President
of Gulshan Society. “This is exactly the kind of partnership between
civic organisations and national platforms that Bangladesh needs more
of.”
Shafiqul Islam Milton, Administrator of Dhaka North City
Corporation, said, “City Corporation will support the advocacy
initiative of Samanzar Sayeed, Hygiene for Health Bangladesh.”
Shaheen
Anam MBE, Executive Director of Manusher Jonno Foundation, said, “Along
with our partner NGOs, we are pleased to partner with Hygiene for
Health Bangladesh, the advocacy campaign of Samanzar Sayeed, Miss World
Bangladesh 2026.”
As her national advocacy, Samanzar Sayeed will
champion hygiene as a simple, scalable tool for disease prevention
across Bangladesh. The campaign will mobilise youth volunteers as
ambassadors for change and is supported by the full coalition of
campaign partners: Gulshan Society, Chittagong Grammar School, Daffodil
School, Ma Haad School & College, Duke of Edinburgh International
Award Bangladesh, Manusher Jonno Foundation and 25 partner NGOs,
Friendship, Glenrich International School, Bangladesh Women Sports
Federation, International Hope School Bangladesh, Square Toiletries
Limited, Ispahani, Shombhob and its Humanity Foundation, Amishee, AMTC,
Persona, Radisson Blu, V-Frame, Cine Sculpture, and Concorde Garments
Group.
The campaign was officially launched by the Chief Guest,
the Honourable Health Minister, together with Samanzar Sayeed, Barrister
Omar Sadat, Azra Mahmood, and Shafiqul Islam Milton, through the
release of pigeons and biodegradable balloons, and the opening of
nationwide volunteer registration.
Samanzar Sayeed will go on to represent Bangladesh at the Miss World 2026 Grand Finale in Nha Trang, Vietnam, on 5 September.
