JS session to continue till Sept 10

The third session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, which began today, will continue till September 10.

The decision was taken at the fourth meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad held today at the Cabinet Room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, MP, who chairs the committee, presided over the meeting.

The meeting also decided that the parliamentary proceedings will generally begin at 3:00 pm on working days.

Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, MP, attended the meeting along with Leader of the Opposition Dr Md Shafiqur Rahman, Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Local Government Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, ATM Azharul Islam and Opposition Chief Whip Md Nahid Islam, among others.

Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, MP, also attended the meeting at the special invitation of the Speaker.

The meeting discussed the allocation of time for conducting the business of the third session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad and its duration. It also reviewed the possible dates and duration of parliamentary sessions during the coming year.

According to the decision, the session will be held at 3:00 pm every day except government holidays as well as August 31 and September 1. The third session will conclude on September 10.

The committee authorised the Speaker to make any necessary changes to the session’s timing and working days.

A total of 2,818 questions have been received for the session, including 142 questions for the Prime Minister and 2,676 for other ministers.

Besides, 81 notices seeking attention under Rule 71 and 249 notices of motions under Rule 131 have been received.

Parliament Secretariat Secretary Barrister Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan provided secretarial assistance at the meeting. Senior officials concerned of the Parliament Secretariat were also present.
